Working with me

When working with me, you’ll experience sensitivity and strength, patience, warmth, and a deep understanding of your struggles. Through our therapeutic relationship, we’ll process your emotions intentionally to help you understand something “new” about your feelings, leading to personal growth and self-understanding. I’ll help you build your strength of character by lending my own courage, endurance, and expertise in addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, addiction, and more. By meeting you where you are in your life, we’ll explore who you are in the present moment and work towards becoming your best self. The Method

The method begins with the therapeutic relationship. I help you find within yourself the means to endure and come forth from struggle and conflict. Through endurance, tolerance, and adjustments in how we respond to our experiences, we find courage in fear and healing from wounds. We then help you to draw upon your experience to try something new. I help you to build your strength of self by lending my strength of self, attentiveness, endurance, and courage. We learn about the deeper world of the psyche via phenomena such as transference, projections, internalizations, and relationships that we experience as we feel them.

The method then, is to feel our experience. We get stronger by lifting more, running faster, or longer. So too do we grow stronger by our ability to tolerate the oftentimes painful experience of “feeling.” By feeling the experience, we begin to see more deeply what is happening in the moment until we can intuit the meaning of the experience. We then have some understanding of ourselves and our feelings to make the choice to respond to those feelings differently. This is painful to do alone, thus I become a container to feel what you feel as best I can.

When coming to me, you are exactly where you need to be. When meeting you where you are, we are allowed to experience the feelings as they are, not as they “ought to be.” Through the experience of where we are, we learn about who we are in the here and now. Only through this self-knowledge and self-understanding can we make choices that are good for us. In this way, we are constantly offered opportunities to adjust “who we are” into “who we are becoming.”
